Eight-Hour AOD Education

Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Education Course

This eight-hour course is provided on two consecutive Saturday mornings each month. The program consists of:

  • Physiological effects of alcohol/drugs
  • Effects of alcohol/drugs on driving. Alcohol content, its calculation and effects on driving performance
  • Psychological and sociological consequences of use and abuse of alcohol/drugs
  • Current DUI laws and possible penalties
  • Community resources and interventions
  • Review of treatment approaches and various programs
  • Self-Assessment of alcohol and drug use
  • Alternatives to drinking alcohol/using other drugs and driving
  • Personal perspective (LEO/Victim)
